Halloween character design for children's illustration: Frogsferatu and the little witch
Thinking about Halloween, I created this pair of friends, Frogsferatu and a little witch, aiming to make them fun, adorable, and charming characters who could star in a great Halloween night story.
While searching for references, I was reminded of Nosferatu (1922) and its dramatic window scene, with a body that could easily belong to a slender vampire frog. For the little witch, I drew inspiration from the 17th-century engraving Mother Louse by David Loggan.
As you can imagine, the sketching process for the characters was a lot of fun.
